Our design paper has been accepted to CHI 2010 Student Design Competition, Atlanta, Georgia. The competition received close to 90 submissions from around the world, our team submitted one of the top 12 papers. Selected as Top 4 entries for second round poster presentation on 14th of April and also awarded as one of Top 3rd place finalist in the final round on 15th of April 2010.
13rd, April- Second round Judging of the 12 teams- Select Top 4 for third round (no ranking).
14th, April Public viewing of team posters and Student design competition Spotlight
15th, April Third round( Final presentation by four finalists and announcement of winners and ranking)2 minutes to set-up, 15 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions.

1。solid state relay- the easiest way is to use 5V mechanical relay, in the spec for solid state relay watch for control current – in your example on page 4 there is 15mA – so for 5v you need a V/A = Ohm -> 5V / 0.015 A = 333,33 Ohm, 333 Ohm doesnt exist so take a 330 Ohm or 470 Ohm will also work
Made in Malaysia OMRON DC-12V
Advice from Tobi: 如果買了12v的有 two voltages in your circuit, 5V from arduino and 12V for relais, for 110V you should solder some screw plugs an a board and make it stable – so no wire is flying around, for easy prototyping you can use the pre fabricated proto boards. Remember to hook the solid state direct to arduino the LED inside while burne out.
His example : A relais with a transistor – but now we where using L293 bridge for mechanical relais and a resistor for solid state, these are the easiest – but expensive.
Arduino is an open-source electronics prototyping platform made up of open source hardware and software. It’s intended for artists, designers, hobbyists and anyone interested in creating interactive objects or environments. For an example of the type of internet-connected object you can build with Arduino, check out this presentation where the author configured a child’s toy ray gun to react when anyone posted the #barcampliverpool hash tag on Twitter.
The planet is not inanimate. It is a living organism. The earth, its rocks, oceans, atmosphere and all living things are one great organism. A coherent holistic system of life, self-regulating, self-changing.
I was worried will lost all my learning process before once my hard disk died, trying to upload as many work as i can and try to save them into internet before i lose anything. Here is the very old work back in foundation of the The Design of Entertainment Engineering Art in my department.
This is how my table looks like when i start to work on the Arduino project
My little investment to learn Processing, an original huge book cost around NT1700
arduino I/O board
I went to my team member’s department and we started to brain storming and try to work it out. First we have to figure out how is our dummy ghost gonna looks like and how are we going to do the installation. Then i posed a different angle and see which one can express the most scary pose for our work.
Monster attack!!
I took around 2 hours to make this, my Steel monster creation.

Industrial design/ Visual communication design professors & master
students from Institute of Applied Arts, NCTU will have group
exhibition of this year, to proceed from “the essence of art &
design” and “the behavior of exhibition itself ”, rethink the
definition of essence and existence. The connotation of artworks also
trying reconsider object to be accustomed to something, arouse
creativity plus to get rid of our under constraint rationality, common
senses and values. We hope the audience will have new understanding on
art & design.
There’s no specific answer or name, it
should be able to make an alteration for express the idea of open up
exhibition, this group exhibition entitled “Make (the) Sense, Save the
World – 2008 Group Exhibition”. Audience can fill in personal
explanatory comment and think the assumption questions of exhibitor,
everyone can think over again and transform it, then realize it is not
everything is stand for a reason.
I was trying to more familiar with Arduino, guess that’s the way to learn efficiently by writing in my blog every time if i find anything from my study this

To creating interactive objects or environments.
Arduino can sense the environment by receiving input from a variety of sensors and can affect its surroundings by controlling lights,
motors, and other actuators.
The microcontroller on the board is programmed using the Arduino programming language (based on Wiring) and the Arduino development environment (based on Processing).
Arduino projects can be stand-alone or they can communicate with software on running on a computer

Video collections of mine to get to undestand more about Arduino
1.A pair of surround sound headphones
2. five proximity sensors
3. 50 leds
five steps = five height levels:
1. step: underground > 0 m
you hear the subway, water or a kind of rushing in the earth 2. step: in the city > 200 m
sound-recordings of different places in the city are played
3. step: over the city > 1500 m
the sound of the point of view is quieter and mixes with that of the surrounding places, the weather is quietly audible
4. step: weather > 8000 m the actual weather of the city is given auditive
5. step: airplanes > 12500 m you can hear the airplanes, flying above the city in that moment
My first day of physical computing workshop, the coolest workshop i ever had!!!
Oh I got my cool T-shirt.. Well, that’s our uniform..hehe
First will be the creative group selection, then i went to our classroom and finally experienced the workshop I’ve been waiting for so long !!
The sexiest software icon is so captivating!!! LOL
Tobias helped me to modify some Terminal setting in my Mac book.
Actually, i am still not so sure about this, but i remember he said i will have to check and change the Application> Utilities> “Terminal” and look for “log”
Type :2#mkdir/var//lock P/S: I am still not so sure how it work, is
there anyone know about this?
== Basic Experiment 1 == Blink
The LED light goes quicker !!!!
== Basic Experiment 1 == Blink without delay
That’s all i can say : “”Awesome!! “”
Ermmm.. I’d love to write more for sure, but it’s time for 2nd day of workshop now.. gtg .. bye
Find out more from the video .. ^o^ Love you Arduino
